SUGGESTED COMPLIMENTARY COPY PROCEDURE
Counsel should cooperate to supply one organized set of papers to the court. At least 24 hours prior to the hearing,
the moving party should submit a three ring binder with index and/or tabs containing the moving, opposing and reply
papers. Normally, counsel prepare such a binder for themselves and preparing an extra copy for the court assures
that all papers will be presented to the court for proper consideration and reduces the danger that the matter
will be continued or that some papers will not be considered due to clerical error, absence of files, misplaced
or misfiled documents. If counsel cannot cooperate and coordinate, each party should submit its own complimentary
copies in an organized and tabbed file or binder. Help yourself. Binders are recycled after use and may be obtained
from a table in Courtroom 610. If a ruling is made at the hearing and you want your binder, take it home with you.
REFERENCES TO PRIVATE JUDGES See Referee Case Outline. Solely for
the convenience of counsel, Department 610 maintains a 3 ring binder of resumes of attorneys and retired judges
who are interested in serving as discovery referees. No "approved" list is provided and counsel selecting
a referee must make their own determination as to qualifications, fees, availability, etc. Appointment of a referee
selected by all parties and acceptable to the court is preferred. See Referee
List
Persons interested in serving as referees in discovery matters are encouraged to submit by email their name etc., areas of expertise, qualifications, experience other relevant data and a link to their web site for interested persons to obtain detailed information. Such information will be made available on this web site.
